Plasma carburising
Hardening of steel surfaces by increasing the carbon content by means of plasma diffusion of hydrocarbon gases followed by quenching. In contrast to conventional carburising, there is no substantial surface oxidation in plasma carburising and the process takes less time. The surface hardness is usually slightly lower than for nitriding, however, the thickness of the diffusion layer is bigger.
